Juvéderm®

Facial wrinkles and creases begin to appear in your lips and skin as the underlying collagen and elastin fibers begin to break down and wear out. In the past, the most frequently used material for filling facial wrinkles and frown lines was injectable collagen.

Now our physicians perform wrinkle filler injections for patients with Juvéderm®, a natural, cross-linked, non-animal hyaluronic acid filler developed using biosynthesis. It can help you meet your goals without the fear of an allergic reaction.

How does Juvéderm® work?

Treatments are done in our office and take about 30 minutes and the result is immediate.

Juvéderm® is injected into the skin to create volume, resulting in a more healthy appearance. When injected into the lips it restores a more natural and/or sensuous look. In contrast to other implants, Juvéderm® is not extracted from animals. This means that you don't have to worry about an allergic reaction. Juvéderm® is perfectly safe to use instantly without pre-testing.

What areas respond the best to Juvéderm®?

Fine lines in the forehead, "crow's feet", wrinkles between the eyes, on the cheeks and at the corners of the mouth, and deeper wrinkles on the cheeks and chin all respond well to Juvéderm®. Lip enhancement or a "pouting" lip can be achieved using Juvéderm. This treatment also improves the vertical or "Smoker's Lines" along the edges of the lip.

Is it safe?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body and therefore it also dissolves naturally with time and is integrated into your body's tissues. Over time, the molecules dissolve and turn into water as they depart without leaving any trace in your body.

How long does it last?

It varies from individual to individual. The length of time your treatment will last depends on many factors such as your skin, your lifestyle and your age. Most patients find the effect remains after 9 months. However, the average lip treatment only lasts for about 6 months due to higher blood flow.

Unlike permanent implants, Juvéderm® always leaves you a choice when the effect of the treatment has worn off to perform a touch-up. How will I look after my treatment?

After our physician performs your Juvéderm® injections, normal activities can be resumed immediately. Discomfort is minimal. The treatment site may have a little swelling, which may last a few hours, also there may be some slight bruising which can be covered with make-up.
